Earthquake shakes southern Colo. border

RATON, N.M. -- A magnitude 4.0 earthquake shook the Colorado-New Mexico border late Monday night.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake hit at 11:24 p.m. Monday.

Residents in both states reportedly feeling the tremors.

The quake was centered 17 miles west of Raton, N.M., with a reported depth of 3.1 miles.

The magnitude 4.0 quake struck several hours after a magnitude 3.4 quake hit the area around 7:30 p.m. Monday.

There are no immediate reports of damages or injuries.
