CENTENNIAL, COLO. (AP) -- A Centennial engineer will be sitting with First Lady Michelle Obama during the president's jobs pitch to Congress.
The Denver Post reports that 43-year-old Kirk Bergstrom accepted an invitation for the Thursday night speech. Bergstrom is an engineer who was working part-time at a Target store last year until he landed a job at a construction firm that works under Denver Transit Partners.
The newspaper reports that Bergstrom's firm is working on a commuter railroad line boosted by the recent announcement of a federal grant worth $1 billion.
Last week, Federal Transit Administration chief Peter Rogoff said the public-private venture with Denver Transit Partners was a model for the country.
