DENVER, COLO. -- Denver Police officers have arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of a Fort Carson soldier last month.

According to a release sent Saturday, police said 22-year-old Ricky Scott was arrested Thursday night on suspicion of murder.

No other details of the arrest were released.

Scott could be responsible for the death of 25-year-old Anthony Silva, who was shot in Denver July 23.

Silva was shot near a motel where he was staying. He was about to be discharged from the Army and was waiting to meet his father so they could drive back to his hometown of Columbia, Ill.

An investigation is ongoing.
