Woman killed in car crash identified

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The Colorado State Patrol is investigating after a crash claims the life of a woman stationed at Schriever Air Force Base Wednesday afternoon.

The crash occurred as 41-year-old Vivian Elmo of Colorado Springs was heading northbound on Curtis Road, attempting to turn left onto westbound Highway 94.

Troopers said as Elmo was turning, 42-year-old Rodney Fannin entered the intersection against the red light and struck Elmo's car.

Fannin was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

However, Elmo suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time alcohol and drug use are not considered to be factors in the crash.
