COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers have identified the man who was shot to death in the southwest part of the city Thursday night.
The man who was shot was 27-year-old Matthew Moore, a Colorado Springs resident. The El Paso County Coroner ruled Moore died from gunshot wounds and labeled the cause of death as a homicide.
Moore was shot in the 500 block of Warren Avenue and was bleeding when he knocked on the door of a house in the area asking for help.
He died after being taken to a hospital.
Major Crimes Homicide Unit officials recovered multiple shell casings in the area of Corona Avenue and Hunter Avenue.
The investigation is ongoing. This is the ninth homicide in the city in 2011. There were 12 at this time in 2010.
