FOUNTAIN, COLO. -- Fountain Police officers arrested a Fort Carson soldier who is allegedly responsible for two armed robberies in Fountain that happened as a result of Craigslist scams.

Police arrested 25-year-old Lansfield Scott, a soldier who had been stationed at the Mountain Post, in the 7100 block of Alegre Circle in Fountain Wednesday night.

According to police, someone saw Scott enter the apartment through a window and called police around 5:17 p.m. Wednesday. Police learned that a man and woman were inside the apartment. They tried knocking at the door and calling Scott's phone, allegedly the same number posted on Craigslist that victims called to set up appointments, but were unsuccessful.

Shortly thereafter, Scott called police inquiring about the police activity outside the apartment. Police negotiated with him to surrender, which he did without incident.

The unidentified woman is being questioned, but has not been arrested. Police said they don't know if she was involved.

The apartment is just one block from where both robberies occurred.

Scott allegedly advertised a Chevy Caprice on Craigslist in the $1,200-$1,500 range. When the victims contacted him, he agreed to meet them in a wooded area near Alegre and Southmoor Drive late at night. Scott then drew a gun and robbed the potential buyer both times, firing shots in the process.

One robbery occurred May 24, the other happened Monday.

Police found the silver Chevy Caprice Scott allegedly used as a getaway car at a park in the 1500 block of Lee Lane.

Scott faces aggravated robbery charges and also had an outstanding no-bond warrant for failure to comply with conditions of the Veteran's Court. His current military status is unknown.
