Crash near La Junta kills two

LA JUNTA, COLO. -- The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a deadly car crash just north of La Junta.

Troopers said the crash happened Tuesday on Otero County Road 28 sometime between midnight and 2 in the morning but was not discovered until several hours after the crash.

Investigators said the car ran off the side of the road and rolled into a ravine, killing the driver, 21-year-old Brandon Dellinger of La Junta, and front seat passenger, 21-year-old Richard Dillingham of Swink.

Both were unrestrained at the time of t he accident.

The rear seat passenger, 20-year-old Aaron Parker, suffered serious injuries and was air lifted to a Denver hospital.

Of the 20 people killed in car crashes in Colorado in 2011, 14 have not been wearing seatbelts.
