CHAFFEE COUNTY, COLO. -- The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a head-on crash that killed two people on Highway 24 near mile marker 216 in Chaffee County Wednesday afternoon.

Troopers said a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant traveling westbound crashed head-on with a 1999 Ford Ranger pickup truck around 4:18 p.m.

The driver of the car, 56-year-old Noah VanBibber of Littleton, and a 14-year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other passengers in the car suffered serious injuries.

Officials said none of the occupants in the car were wearing seat belts.

The driver of the pickup, 57-year-old Lamont Moorman of Longmont, suffered some broken bones but was wearing a seatbelt. His truck rolled off the highway and down an embankment

Fatigue is suspected as a possible cause of the crash.
