COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A man was hospitalized Sunday evening after being hit by a train in downtown Colorado Springs.
Police said it happened near the area of Las Vegas Boulevard and Nevada Avenue.
The train's engineer said the man was walking parallel to the tracks with his back to the train.
Authorities said the engineer sounded the train's horn several times, and rang the bell.
The subject did not move away from the track.
The left front of the train struck the victim, knocking him off the rail bed.
The train then stopped just east of Sierra Madre.
Officers found the victim in the brush nearby.
They said he was conscious and talking at the scene.
He was transported to Memorial Central with multiple fractures.
No further details were given on his condition.
