FORT CARSON, COLO. -- Fort Carson welcomed home about 250 soldiers from the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division early Tuesday morning.

The brigade arrived around 3:45 a.m. at the Special Events Center on post to the cheers of family members.

The Iron Brigade Soldiers spent the past year in Iraq advising and assisting the Iraqi army, police and border enforcement across the four southern provinces.

As part of its civil capacity mission, the brigade has provided oversight and funding for more than 100 projects, costing approximately $15.5 million to improve the infrastructure in the cities and help the government of Iraq provide essential services like water and electricity to its people.

Their arrival comes hours after another group from the 3rd BCT was welcomed home.

They also returned from a year-long deployment to Iraq where they trained and operated alongside Iraqi personnel.

Hundreds of friends and family gathered at Fort Carson to greet their loved ones.

A second ceremony was held Monday night to welcome home about 250 soldiers from the 43rd Sustainment Brigade who were returning from Afghanistan.

A special uncasing ceremony was also held, signifying the end of their mission.

While in Afghanistan they provided support for more than 170 operations conducted in partnership with Afghanistan national security forces.

Another group of 3rd BCT soldiers, as well as 663rd EOD soldiers returned to Fort Carson over the weekend
