FOUNTAIN, COLO. -- Fountain police are looking for a suspect they said robbed the People's National Bank at gunpoint in Fountain Tuesday morning.
According to police, a suspect came into the bank in the 6800 block of Mesa Ridge Parkway around 9 a.m., pointed a gun at the teller and demanded money. The teller gave the robber money, and the robber left running northeast towards Janitell Junior High School.
The school was closed Tuesday due to cold weather.
Police said the suspect wore all black, a jacket with a hood and a bandana across the face.
A department canine tried tracking the suspect but lost the trail around Sneffels and Woodstock Streets. Officers did interviews with neighbors but have not identified any suspects.
Fountain police and the FBI will join together in the investigation. Officials said there could be a possibility this robbery is linked to other recent bank robberies in the Pikes Peak Region.
