COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Police and fire officials are looking for a serial arsonist(s) in connection with 10 intentional fires in the city dating back to late October.
The Colorado Springs police and fire departments, arson investigators and crime analysts have tracked a pattern of arson cases in the Rockrimmon and Mountain Shadows area.
Since Oct. 29, 10 intentional fires have been set in dumpsters or in debris in open space areas. They said most cases occur between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m., though they said at least one fire was started around 7:15 p.m. Officials said some fires have caused structural damage to surrounding buildings, the most recent being the KinderCare fire at Flying W Ranch Road Monday.
Officials also said seven fire extinguishers were taken from the KinderCare. The fires have been in the areas of Vindicator Drive, Centennial Boulevard, Rockrimmon Boulevard and Flying W Ranch Road.
Police and fire officials are warning people to be careful in those areas and to report any suspicious activity or information to police.
