PUEBLO, COLO. -- One man died as a result of a head-on crash on Highway 115 north of Florence.
Colorado State troopers said the crash happened around 5:49 a.m. Friday. Troopers said one of the drivers of a two-car, head-on crash at mile marker 22 died.
Troopers said a 2001 Nissan Sentera lost control after rounding a curve going southbound. A Ford F-250 driving north hit the Nissan when in crossed the center line.
The driver of the Nissan, 56-year-old Larry Jordan from Colorado Springs, was killed by the crash, and the driver of the pickup was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Troopers said alcohol is not a factor in the crash, but Jordan's speed relative to the weather conditions probably was the cause. The road was coated with ice and snow at the time.
Jordan worked at the Colorado Department of Corrections in Canon City.
State Patrol closed the highway in both directions about 13 miles north of Florence.
