DENVER (AP) -- Colorado added 7,100 jobs during October but that wasn't enough to cut the state's unemployment rate.

The state labor department said Tuesday that Colorado's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased by two-tenths of a percentage point to 8.4 percent during October.

The unemployment rate increased in 38 of Colorado's 64 counties.

Cheyenne County had the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 3.5 percent. Dolores County had the highest -- 15.7 percent.

Forty other states also added jobs last month, the best showing in five months, but those gains didn't broadly reduce unemployment rates.
