ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo. (AP) -- A road that crests the Colorado mountains more than two miles above sea level has reopened after an overnight closure because of snow and poor visibility.
A 5-mile stretch of Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park was closed late Wednesday and reopened Thursday morning. Park officials haven't said how much snow fell.
Some parts of the road have no painted lanes because of a construction project, making it more dangerous in wintry conditions.
The highway is billed as the country's highest continuously paved road. It climbs to 12,183 feet and connects the towns of Estes Park and Grand Lake.
Other roads over the mountains, including Interstate 70, remained open.
