COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) held a sobriety checkpoint in the southbound lanes of 1200 S. Nevada Ave. as the kick-off to '100 Days of Heat' on Friday.
The program is an educational program designed to decrease the number of intoxicated drivers on Colorado roadways, particularly during the summer months.
CSPD officers and Colorado State Patrol troopers made 23 arrests where drivers were considered to be driving under the influence of alcohol and contact with nearly 600 motorists.
Officers issued 24 citations for other motor vehicle code violations and made one misdemeanor drug arrest.
