DENVER (AP) -- More thunderstorms are expected on Colorado's plains and more snow is predicted for the mountains, although the widespread severe weather appears to be moving out.

Heavy rains, hail and tornadoes swept across the Denver metro area, northern Colorado and eastern plains Tuesday. The National Weather Service issued a thunderstorm warning Wednesday for parts of  southeastern Colorado.

More snow is expected in Colorado's western and central mountains. Snowfall amounts ranged from 2 to 9 inches at elevations of 8,500 feet and higher Tuesday.

Jim Pringle of the weather service in Grand Junction said some of the higher points could get a few more inches Wednesday. But Pringle says the snow likely will taper off during the night as the weather pattern sustaining the thunderstorms eases.
