Rep. Steve King, (R) Grand Junction
DENVER (AP) -- Republican Rep. Steve King is apologizing to fellow Colorado lawmakers for "accounting errors" and says he has reimbursed the state for $914.53.
The House Ethics Committee was reviewing evidence Friday after King was accused of double-dipping on his expense account for travel expenses by collecting reimbursements from his campaign and from the state.
King, of Grand Junction, rejected the allegations. King says he borrowed from money he contributed to his own campaign to pay for commuting to the Capitol until he could be reimbursed by the state.
King said he didn't realize that he kept a deposit for a rental car until an ethics complaint was filed against him asking for more documents.
