COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Driving a stolen car, 20-year-old Justin Wasinger gave Colorado Springs police and a bail bondsman chase Monday about 7:40 p.m. after officers attempted to arrest him at Village Inn, 7384 Duryea Dr.

Officers had set up containment at the restaurant, and when the suspect arrived and police confronted him, he drove his vehicle over a curb and down an embankment, almost rolling the vehicle, according to police.

He fled east on Woodmen Road to Powers Boulevard south, eventually turning into a cul-de-sac street. Police attempted to stop the car and the suspect drove onto a lawn trying to escape, but struck a planter. He drove backwards towards the officers who were on foot, ramming into a marked police cruiser, injuring one of the officers.

The suspect was taken from his vehicle and arrested. The car he was driving had been stolen on Nov. 22 in Littleton, police say.

The officer suffered minor injuries.

The bail bondsman was from Denver.

Wasinger was taken to a local hospital, then booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center. He faces charges of assault on a peace officer and other crimes.
