COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- * The El Paso County Health Department teaming up with Peak Vista Community Health Centers to reach the rural areas of the county with a mobile H1N1 flu vaccine clinic. The Ronald McDonald Caremobile will be at the Fountain Fire Department from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today with a lunch break from noon to one. The department is located at 212 Santa Fe. The mobile clinic has 160 vaccinations to give out each day on a first-come, first-serve basis. Remember, they are for people in high risk groups only. * The leaves have fallen, Thanksgiving is almost here and holiday shopping is upon us. That means theCommonwheel Artists Co-op's annual Holiday Market is now open for business in Manitou Springs. Visitors can browse through fragrant rooms full of hand-crafted items made by more than 50 Colorado artists. The Holiday Market opens daily at 10 a.m. and runs through Dec/ 12. * There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Baptist Road Interchange in El Paso County's northern region at 1 p.m. The road improvement project was a collaboration of the Baptist Road Rural Transportation authority, Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA), Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and El Paso County. Due to inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at Monument Town Hall in the meeting chambers, 645 Beacon Lite Road. Presenters at today’s ceremony will include District 1 County Commissioner Wayne Williams, who serves on the Baptist Road Rural Transportation Authority, PPRTA and Highway Advisory Commission, among other liaison duties.
