COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The El Paso County Election Department has mailed in excess of 278,000 ballots for the Nov. 3, 2009 Coordinated Election. Of those, the department has received approximately 9,000 of those ballots back because they were undeliverable as addressed.
By law, ballots cannot be forwarded by the Postal Service. Consequently, if a voter has moved, and failed to update their address with the Election Department, the ballot will be returned by the Postal Service as an undeliverable ballot.
The Clerk and Recorder wants to be sure that everyone who is eligible to vote in the November 3 election receives a ballot.
Anyone who has not received a ballot may call the Election Department at 719-575-VOTE (8683) or visit http://www.sos.state.co.us/ for further information. A voter who has moved and not changed their address may still update and obtain a ballot through Election Day by appearing in person at the Centennial Hall office of the Clerk and Recorder.
The Centennial Hall office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 3, 2009.
Voters can check their own voter registration details and obtain further information about the election on the Election Department Web site at http://car.elpasoco.com/election
