DENVER (AP) -- A proposal to raise vehicle registration fees to pay for roads and bridges could be on its way to the governor soon.
The Senate plans to vote Friday on whether to accept changes made to the bill in the House. The House version would phase in the fee hikes over three years instead of two.
Owners of passenger cars and SUVs would pay an extra $41 a year when the phase-in is complete.
Bill sponsor Sen. Dan Gibbs of Silverthorne says he still needs to look over the changes but was inclined to ask senators to accept he House version. If there's no dispute, the bill would then go toGov. Bill Ritter, who has been pushing for passage of the bill.
