COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The search continues for a missing Colorado Springs woman.

Tuesday her parents spoke out about their daughter.

Nineteen-year-old Kara Nichols was last seen October 9 near her home in the 6700 block of Mission Road.

Investigators with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said Nichols has not used her cell phone since October 9, and her Facebook page also has not been updated.

"She could have been anything, she could have had the world at her feet," Paul Nichols, Kara's father, said. "To see that she is missing now is just a crushing blow."

Paul Nichols said it is important for anyone in the community that might have information to alert authorities.

"Come forward with any news, any information, no matter how insignificant it might be," he said.

Detectives with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said Kara Nichols told her roommate she was going to Denver, although that has not been confirmed.

"We do know that she spent the day with a brunette, although we have not been able to identify that brunette," Sheriff Terry Maketa said.

Maketa said his office is also looking for a second brunette woman who knows Kara.

He said the two are not suspects, but rather persons of interest.

"They are just people we want to talk with because they had contact with Kara, at least the last day she was seen," Maketa said. "We believe both of them are in this community, or from this community."

Paul Nichols said his daughter was an aspiring model.

FOX21 found several pictures of Kara on the website Model Mayhem, but those too have not been updated for weeks.

"At this point anything we can get to point us in another direction is extremely important," Maketa said.

"People might think 'Gosh this sort of thing does not happen to me,' but the truth of the matter is it can," Paul Nichols said.

Sheriff Maketa said his team has ruled out the possibility Kara ran away.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the El Paso County Sheriff's Office at 719-390-5555.
