COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Girl Scouts from across Colorado Springs are coming together to help honor our hometown heroes.

The troop of 21 girls, kindergarten through 5th grade assembled last November. Since then, the girls have worked diligently selling cookies and collecting additional boxes to give to their Hometown Hero.

Troops 2705 chose to help Westside Cares in Old Colorado City.

"We grossed like $13,800 which results in about 3,500 packages of cookies." Alissa Robinson, 2705 troop leader said.

Westside Cares helps people in the community with rent assistance and other needs.

"They help with people who don't have food, so they give them food." Girl Scout Tina Robinson said.

The 100 boxes of cookies delivered by Girl Scoust will be put to good use since every person how comes in needing help is offered coffee and a cookies.

"I bet the kids would not like the coffee but they would like the cookies." Girl Scout Summer Raymer said.

"Just the feeling of giving to help others and we can help Westside to help other people who need it

too". Alissa Robinson said.

The troop already has plans for more projects to help Westside cares continue their mission to assist those in need.
