COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- As the future of Wasson High School continues to hang in the balance, activists gathered Tuesday afternoon to rally for the school to remain open.

Occupy Colorado Springs joined students from Wasson at 3 p.m., to protest against the threatened closure of the school.

The group then walked to the School District Administration Building as part of the 'Walk for Wasson.'

"We believe other more beneficial alternatives have been made and should be considered before closing a school with a rich history like Roy J. Wasson High School," a media release announcing the event read.

On Wednesday, District 11 is set to vote on the Optimization of Utilization Plan which would consolidate the district's five high schools down to four. District officials said Wasson does not enroll sufficient students to provide a full offering of courses.
