COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The Colorado Springs Fire Department is on the scene of a garage fire/explosion in the 3000 block of Greenwood Circle.
Authorities said three people sufferred burns to their hands and faces, including a child.
Investigators believe two men and a 2-year-old boy were working on a car in the garage when a pilot light from a hot water heater ignited the gas fumes.
The father and boy are in critical condition and are being flown to Denver for additional medical attention. The third man is is stable at local hospital.
The flames did spread to the walls of the home and attic, but have since been contained.
There is no damage to other portions of their home and utilies have been shut off to the property.
20 firefighters were on the scene fighting heavy smoke and fire in the attached garage.
Homes in the area are not at risk and are not evacuated.
CSFD officials encourage anyone to ensure you are working on vehicles in a well-ventilated area, and to be sure to seal paints and other flammable materials well.
