COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A floor furnace was found to be the cause of an early morning house fire, according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department.

The fire was located at a home in the 1500 block of Cheyenne Boulevard, near the intersection of Cresta Road and Cheyenne Boulevard. Firefighters were called to the scene just before 5 a.m., Wednesday to find smoke coming from the back of the home.

Two engines, two firetrucks, a heavy rescue unit and four support apparatus responded with 32 firefighters.

No injuries were reported and officials said the fire was deemed accidential and was caused by a floor furnace. Officials said wood around the furnace was exposed to prolonged heat temperature which caused the fire to ignite.

Property and content loss was estimated at $65,621. Firefighters were able to save more than $130,000.

CSFD reminds residents to have their furnaces inspected annually. Filters should also be changed monthly.
