COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- World War II veterans had a chance to share their stories that are bigger and better than any textbook could tell.

14 veterans came together at the National Museum of World War II Aviation Saturday afternoon.

A crowd of nearly 100 people, old and young, military and civilian gathered to hear their personal accounts of combat, travel and lessons learned.

Representing all branches, these 14 men passed on wisdom and personal experiences to the group, explaining that many people don't know much about the war, or what they did.

Sprinkled with jokes and light-hearted stories about their service, they agreed they had "a heck of a lot of fun, but it was certainly hard work."

The audience then split into groups with the veterans to tour the museum, where many planes they once flew are being refurbished.
