Driver rams stolen car into police cruiser, officer hurt

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A Colorado Springs Police officer was hurt Wednesday afternoon after a man driving a stolen car crashed into his.

Officers said they saw 43-year-old Charles Smart driving in a stolen car around 3:56 p.m. When they tried to pull him over, Smart rammed is car into the front of an officer's before fleeing.

Smart jumped a curb and crashed into a fence at Circle Drive and Verde Drive. Officers then arrested him for first degree assault, attempted second degree assault, vehicular eluding and careless driving.
