EL PASO COUNTY, COLO. -- If you're looking for ways to help the more than 10,000 evacuees of the Waldo Canyon Fire, here are a few ways you can:

If you want to give money, you can donate to the Red Cross by clicking here. Red Cross officials cannot accept food donations, and Colorado Springs Fire Stations also cannot accept items. Monetary donations must go through the Red Cross website.

If you would like to donate food items, you can take them to Care and Share in the 2600 block of Preamble Point in Colorado Springs. They are open until 7 p.m. daily. They will also accept Gatorade for firefighters. The Steelers organization is partnering with Care and Share and are accepting donations at the Dublin House if it's easier to take food there.

Current Red Cross shelters are set up at Cheyenne Mountain High School and Summit Elementary School. To check if family is registered at a shelter, call Red Cross at (719) 785-2724.

Several businesses are taking in evacuated animals. They are listed at the bottom of this page. The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region is now accepting all evacuated animals and are offering free cat adoptions Sunday to make room for the evacuated ones.

If you want a place you can stay with your pet, you can stay at Rocky Mountain Health Care Services on 14th Street in Colorado Springs.

The large animal shelter at Penrose Equestrian Center is looking for volunteers. Call (719) 520-7773 if you have experience working with large animals. Voluntary veterinarians are wanted at Cheyenne Mountain High School. If you're interested, call (719) 444-7919.

The new Mining Exchange Wyndham Grand Hotel is offering 60 rooms at the owners’ rate of $99/night for any evacuees needing short-term shelter for the next few nights. Please call (719) 323-2000 to make reservations. These are rooms that were being finished to put into hotel inventory in the next week or so that the owner has made available early for this purpose.

For non-emergency needs and volunteer information, call Pikes Peak United Way at (719) 955-0742 or apply through the Red Cross website.
