FOUNTAIN, COLO. -- Fountain Police officers are looking for suspects who vandalized dozens of headstones at Fairview Cemetery in the city.
According to officers, at least 24 headstones were damaged overnight, and the graveyard has been a vandalism target since Aug. 6th.
"It has been everything from damaging the stones themselves, to displacing them, moving them and tipping them over," Fountain Police Officer Thomas Coates said. "It would take some force to do this because the tombstones are big and heavy."
Some of the headstones date back to the 1800s.
"Price range for restoration of those is ranging between $10,000 - $15,000," Coates said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the police tip line at (719) 382-8555.
