The Volkswagen's driver, 25-year-old Sarah Larocca or Peyon, along with 27-year-old Evan Losee, and a one-year-old child were seriously injured.

The Mazda's driver, 53-year-old Sheldon Carster of Calhan, and 52-year-old Connie Carson, were also seriously injured.

Both drivers had to extricated from their cars.

Troopers said excessive speed may have played a role in the crash.
