FORT COLLINS, COLO. (AP) -- Fort Collins water managers are keeping a close eye on ash runoff into the Poudre River to ensure the city's drinking water is safe following a wildfire that scorched about 12 square miles.

Water production manager Lisa Voytko says there has been minimal impact so far.

According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan, the city takes its water the Poudre River and Horsetooth Reservoir. The city shut down its Poudre River water intake last Friday to prevent weekend rainstorms from driving ash and debris into the water system.

The fire near Livermore was fully contained on Tuesday.
