HOT SULPHER SPRINGS, COLO. (AP) -- Three children found on a piece of ice on the Colorado River have been rescued.
The Grand County Sheriff's office says a 10-year-old boy, an 8-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl were pulled from the river Saturday using ladders and a raft in Hot Sulphur Springs.
Undersheriff Jim Campbell said Monday that when authorities arrived they contacted John Coffey who pulled the 10-year-old boy from the water. Firefighters pulled out the other two children.
All three children were taken to Middle Park Medical Center but it wasn't immediately clear how they're doing now. Campbell couldn't say if the children were related.
Campbell says the area still has a lot of ice this time of year, so it's not unusual that this would occur now.
