SAN ANTONIO -- A high school girl in San Antonio is being expelled for refusing to wear a school-mandated RFID tracking badge around her neck.

The padge, which has the student's name, photo, ID number and a barcode tied to her social security number, also tracks the location of each student during school hours. That includes after-school activities and off-campus lunch.

Andrea Hernandez has openly refused to wear the badge despite John Jay High School announcing full implementation of the program during this school year. Hernandez will be withdrawn from the school and her program at the Science and Engineering Academy and will instead have to attend William Howard Taft High.

According to InfoWars, Hernandez said her family supports her in her decision not not wear the badge for religious and privacy reasons.

The family is currently trying to compromise with the school. Hernandez said she will still carry her ID card, and the school is considering dropping the location tracking part of the badge.

The school, which is private and accepts applicants based on good test scores and grades, phased in the program this year. InfoWars reports they get $2 million in state and federal funding for the program, which aims to reduce tardiness and truency. Hernandez began arguing in August.

Opponents of the program say it violates the first amendment, and some Christians oppose it because it appears to be similar to the "Mark of the Beast."

Hernandez will be forced out Nov. 26 unless she changes her mind.
