PUEBLO, COLO. -- Colorado State Fair officials said they don't expect this year's attendance to reach the 515,000 mark they reached in 2011.
The 2012 numbers won't be finalized until this week, but preliminary projections show attendance was down in 2012.
"Our attendance is down slightly from last year," State Fair General Manager Chris Wiseman said. "Less than 10 percent, we will know the full number tomorrow (Tuesday)."
Roughly 440,000 people had attended the fair prior to Monday's final day. Wiseman points to the struggling economy as a potential reason for the decline but said some areas of the fair still did well.
"Our concession revenue is higher than it was last year, and the number of people who saw concerts this year is higher than last year," Wiseman said.
He said there is a lot to see and do at the fair, which won't change.
"(I came) just for the rides, I was looking for some bump cars but they don't have bump cars," fairgoer Larry Gadson said. "I love bump cars."
The fair still offers unique attractions, including rides, exotic foods, the concert series, rodeo, livestock show, petting zoo and various contests.
"We come every year with our family, and this is my second time this year," fairgoer Jacqueline Fair said.
