COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Folks flocking to buy guns and gear at a Colorado Springs show, some out of fear for their 2nd Amendment rights.

The Prospectors Sertoma Gun Show was held this weekend at Rustic Hills Event Center.

The event brought more than 350 vendors and a lot of gun buyers with different agendas, thanks to current legislation.

Elden Leasure has been to his fair share of gun shows.

"I started collecting when I was about 8 years old, I got bit by the bug and it never quit!," he explained.

But it wasn't only the typical hunters and collectors at this one, he saw more folks just concerned for their safety.

"The public feels like they need protection. If you dial 9-1-1 you could be dead before you've quit dialing," he said, "Where if you had some self-protection you may have come through everything just fine."

Specialty salesmen say they're an afterthought these days.

With gun restrictions on the table in Denver, they're seeing a lot of first time buyers and folks focused on high-capacity magazines and ammunition.

"Right now that's where it stands, ammunition," a specialty salesmen said, "It's in high demand and you know you probably go to any stores in town they're out in the first second you know?"

So while more sales sounds nice to Leasure, the reason doesn't sit as well with him.

"Why are they protecting maybe the criminal element rather than the good guy?," he asked, "We like to consider ourselves the good guy because there's probably 5,000 to 10,000 guns in this room and they're not out shooting anybody."

Other salesmen said they're worried higher restrictions mean less business for them and for Colorado, but also that it could trickle down to their business partners. specifically shipping and packing groups.

Sertoma has hosted 41 gun shows since their start and they donate to local organizations. Last year the group gave more than $13,000 to a hearing-aid foundation in the area. This weekend's big turnout has them excited for next year's donations.
