DENVER (AP) -- Colorado's senators haven't decided whether to support a Democratic push to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines like those used in the Newtown, Conn. school massacre.

Sens. Michael Bennet and Mark Udall told The Denver Post (http://bit.ly/W6Ijx8 ) that they want to study the proposal from Sen. Diane Feinstein to see if it is in line with Colorado values.

Meanwhile, congressman Ed Perlmutter said Thursday that he would introduce the House version of the proposal. His district includes the Aurora theater where 12 people were shot to death in July and his office released a letter of support from the families of seven victims.

Another Colorado Democratic congressman, Jared Polis, thinks that banning law-abiding people from possessing weapons violates the Second Amendment.

None of Colorado's four Republican congressmen are expected to support the proposal.
