DENVER (AP) -- Coloradans who buy products online are getting dinged for taxes under a state law that puts the burden on consumers.

The Colorado Department of Revenue tells KMGH-TV the law has been on the books for a number of years and it's the consumer's responsibility to pay the tax.

An injunction by a federal court has put a temporary stop to a requirement that vendors provide a summary of purchases on which taxes might be due, but that does not exempt buyers.

Under Colorado law, consumers are required to pay a 2.9 percent use tax on purchases that don't include Colorado sales tax on anything bought by mail order, telephone or the Internet.
