MONUMENT, COLO. -- UPDATE
Authorities are now searching for a vehicle of interest in the shooting death of Tom Clements.

According to a witness, the vehicle was a 1990s Lincoln-type, two-door, dark or black colored car. It was seen parked near Clements’ home, at Colonial Park and Scarsbrook Court in Monument.

The Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Corrections, Tom Clements, was found dead in his Monument home Tuesday night.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a shooting shortly after 8:30 p.m.

Deputies responded to the home in the 17400 Block of Colonial Park Drive near Higby Rd., where they found Tom Clements shot to death.

Deputies said Clements was shot when he answered his front door.

At this time, there's no information on the suspect who is still on the loose. However, authorities are searching for a vehicle of interest. Click here for more information.  

Governor John Hickenlooper ordered flags to be flown at half-staff Wednesday in honor of Clements.

Meanwhile, Lewis-Palmer School District-38 said due to the ongoing investigation many roads are closed and that could affect bus routes Wednesday morning.
