COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO -- Colorado Springs police (CSPD) have arrested six juveniles suspected of setting several fires in Sagebrush Park.

The fire department (CSFD) also responded to 601 Crestline Drive Sunday afternoon after six male teens who matched the description of the fire starters were spotted in the area.

Police said when the juveniles saw the fire department, they ran eastbound on foot. The six were later contacted by officers near Sand Creek Elementary School.

The investigation revealed the teens set several small fires in the creekbed just east of the park using a large lighter and an aerosol can.

A witness had taken a photograph of the juveniles in the act and they were later positively identified by that witness.

All six were charged with 4th Degree Arson.

The CSPD and CSFD would like to remind citizens that even though it's winter, the fire danger remains high due to windy and dry conditions.
