COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. (AP) -- A member of Gov. John Hickenlooper's board on identity theft and financial fraud has a new perspective on her mission.
A brazen thief walked into the Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado during business hours Monday and stole her smartphone and wallet from a purse.
Katie Carrol says she was in a meeting at the time. Within an hour someone had starting spending her money.
According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, Carrol fired off a fraud alert to credit agencies and closed all of her credit card accounts.
