COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Two men are now awaiting surgery after they were injured by a sword early Tuesday morning, according to police.

Just before 7 a.m., police responded to the Westwind Apartments in the 1900 block of Carmel Drive, near Circle Drive and the Hancock Expressway. Police said a woman told them that her boyfriend had been cut with a sword by a neighbor.

Police investigation found that Sean Knapp went to Kenneth Sipes' apartment with a Samurai sword. When Sipes opened the door, police said Knapp swung the sword at Sipes' face.

Sipes was able to catch the blade in both hands and wrestle the sword away.

Police said both Sipes and Knapp were bleeding extensively. Knapp was arrested.

Both men were transported to the hospital where they were last listed in stable condition.
