More than 1,600 customers were left without power Friday morning, after a car hit a power box.

Police say a man was driving southbound on Union Boulevard and Garden Ranch Road, near Academy, when he hit the curb. The car then hit the power box, which caught fire.

Colorado Springs Utilities says about 1,600 customers were temporarily left without power. Power has since been restored.

Police say the driver suffered minor injuries. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
