Fatal auto-pedestrian crash in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police are investigating after a pedestrian was hit by a car Monday night.

It happened shortly after 9 p.m., at the intersection of Platte and Murray.

That's on the city's east side.

Police say the man was crossing Murray Blvd. against the light when the southbound vehicle struck him.

The victim, identified as 57-year-old Roger D. Cowan, died at the scene.

Police say the driver of the vehicle was not intoxicated. At this time, it is uknown whether Cowan was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Several roads in the area were closed while police investigated. The roads have since been reopened.
