DENVER (AP) -- A winter weather warning has been issued for western Colorado for a storm expected to last through the weekend.

This storm is separate from the super storm hitting the East Coast, but up to a foot of snow is expected in some mountain areas beginning Friday night.

The National Weather Service says visibility could be less than a half-mile and warned that roads will be icy and snow packed with snow gusting to 45 miles per hour. The storm is also expected to hit the Front Range.

Officials at Denver International Airport said Friday some airlines have already canceled flights to the East Coast and more are expected.
