Man shot while driving in Fountain

FOUNTAIN, COLO. -- Fountain police arrested a 46-year-old man who is accused of shooting a driving vehicle early Friday morning.

Eric Soltwedel, 46, was charged with Criminal Attempt First Degree Assault, Menacing, Criminal Mischief, Prohibited Use of a Weapon, Unauthorized Use of a Controlled Substance and Reckless Endangerment.

Police responded to the intersection of Double D Road and Arrow H Road just after midnight on Friday on a report of shots fired. After checking the area, police found a man who said he had been shot at while driving westbound on Double D Road.

According to the victim, the suspect had been standing in a driveway when he shot at the victim and his vehicle.

The vehicle had been struck multiple times, police said.

Officers responded to the home where the shots were believed to be fired from. Soltwedel was identified as the shooter.

Soltwedel was booked into the El Paso County Jail.

Police said the victim was not injured.
