COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The pair accused of burglarizing homes in the Waldo Canyon Fire evacuation zone were found guilty in court on Tuesday.

A jury found Belinda Wells-Yates and Shane Garrett both guilty on all charges, including Burglary, Identifity Theft and Theft.

It was in June 2012 when Wells-Yates and Garrett were arrested after they were caught in Monument.

“It’s difficult to believe, but disaster situations prompt some would-be criminals to take advantage of the heartbreak facing residents forced to evacuate their homes,” CBI Director Ron Sloan said in a statement last June “Law enforcement takes this seriously and will work together to identify and arrest these individuals.”
