COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs police investigated the report of a possible explosive device Friday afternoon.

According to a police spokesperson, a man called police at about 1:10 p.m., and said he was helping a friend clean out a basement when an item fell out of the bag. The home was in the 1900 block of Wooten Road, near Palmer Park Boulevard Powers Boulevard.

Police said the item was about four inches long and had a diameter of about two inches. The item had duct tape around with one end and a fuse sticking out, police said.

The home was evacuated and the the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team handled the situation, police said.

No other information was released but police said the device had to be handled as though it was an explosive.
