ENGLEWOOD, COLO. (AP) -- New Mexico state police have arrested a man sought after the shooting of his ex-girlfriend in Colorado as she sat in her car south of Denver.

The woman's condition wasn't immediately released.

Arapahoe County sheriff's officials say that around 8 a.m. Wednesday, the woman was driving northbound on the exit ramp from Interstate 25 to East County Line Road when a man approached, stepped in front of her car and fired one round through the windshield before leaving the area. The woman was alone at the time.

Authorities identified the suspect as her 27-year-old ex-boyfriend, Christopher Lyle Fields. Sheriff's officials said New Mexico State Police arrested him around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday near Raton.
